From Economics to AI Engineering
This project started as a personal challenge. Coming from an Economics background, I spent years maintaining complex, multi-tab Excel spreadsheets to track my own financial future and model "what-if" scenarios for the Australian retirement landscape.
While those spreadsheets were mathematically sound, they were brittle and difficult to share. As a Software Engineer and Agentic AI Automator, I decided to bridge that gap. I leveraged my engineering knowledge and AI-driven development workflows to transform those brittle calculations into this interactive, robust, and accessible application over a weekend.
Meet the Developer
I am Chandra Shastry. My passion lies in building intelligent systems that solve real-world problems. This calculator is a showcase of how Agentic AI and modern software practices can be used to build high-fidelity tools that provide genuine value with low effort.
Regulatory Accuracy
While this is a hobby project, the mathematics are grounded in the most up-to-date Australian regulations. The engine accounts for Superannuation preservation ages, mandatory drawdown rates, and the dual-test Age Pension eligibility rules (Assets vs. Income). It is designed to be as technically rigorous as institutional tools.
